What is a Production Planner?
A Production Planner reviews production schedules and capacity data to determine processes, machines and personnel necessary to meet project deadline and sustain production activities.
 
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a four year degree (preferred), with focus in Material Management a plus. Two years related, applicable experience in production planning, material management, or production machining in a systems oriented environment. Working knowledge of ERP, MRP, MPSP and Production Scheduling Techniques.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinate with sales/order entry to interpret customer order requirements or marketing forecast to determine production requirements.
2. Balance production requirements against inventory levels and targets to maintain on-time deliveries and established lead times.
3. Prepare production schedules and shop paperwork to support production requirements.
4. Requisition raw materials or purchased items as required.
5. Plan production sequence to maintain production schedules.
6. Review master production schedule and work orders, establish priorities and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines and equipment.
7. Distribute work orders to departments denoting number, type and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
8. Consult with appropriate team leaders regarding projects currently in production and modify schedules to handle unexpected delays.
9. Maintain status reports on individual orders to update the appropriate personnel.
10. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
11. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
12. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
13. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
14. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
15. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
 
 
Required Experience and Education
• Four year degree preferred, with focus in Material Management a plus. • Two years related, applicable experience in production planning, material management, or production machining in a systems oriented environment. • Working knowledge of ERP, MRP, MPSP and Production Scheduling Techniques. • Ability to utilize advanced spreadsheet and analytical techniques. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
 
 
Physical and Technical Environment
• Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment and/or normal office conditions, changing deadlines and project requirements, strict time constraints.
