What is a Buyer?

A Buyer obtain materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and delivery requirements.
 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a least three years of purchasing related experience. preferred.
 

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Processes purchase orders from internal requisitions based on assigned commodities (between 8 – 10 commodities)
  2. Perform varied assignments such as analyzing quotations, identifying sources and materials, expediting deliveries, and purchasing the items.
  3. Follow up on orders, obtain certificates of delivery and audit order against receiving documents.
  4. Follows up on back orders, expedites delivery of orders, makes special arrangements for delivery, and communicates to the requesting party the expected delivery date.
  5. Responsible for disposition and maintenance of assigned inventory commodities.
  6. Develop and maintain necessary records and files.
  7. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
  8. Closely works with Production Planning to achieve optimal on-time delivery.
  9. Visit with suppliers either on-site at Clark-Reliance or through travel to supplier site, as needed.
  10. Interface with accounting on all invoice discrepancies.
  11. Visit with suppliers either on-site at Clark-Reliance or through travel to supplier site, as needed.
  12. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  13. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  14. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  15. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  16. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  17. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
 
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management, preferred. Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English. 
  • At least three years of purchasing related experience required.
  • Procurement experience required, in a manufacturing / engineered-to-order (ETO) environment preferred.
  • Experience in a low-volume, high SKU count environment, preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Ability to handle complex projects and responsibilities independently
  • Experience with ERP systems, including INFOR
  • Proficient Microsoft Office – Excel and Word
  • Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle report
 


Physical and Technical Environment
• Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Normal vision and manual dexterity. • Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. • Normal office environment, changing deadlines, project assignments, strict time constraints. • Some travel required, exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site. • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
